Central Congregational UCC, Atlanta
celebrates the 20th anniversary of
Plymouth Harbor, a Safe Place for
seniors and Respite for their Families

Twenty years ago, Central Congregational
UCC, Atlanta, saw a need in its
neighborhood to serve a growing aging
population. The strain on families and on
seniors led them to establish a program,
Plymouth Harbor, to meets these needs. Plymouth Harbor has provided a warm
caring and stimulating environment for seniors three days a week. They provide
counseling and social work as needed, social connections, activities and lunch for
those who attend. Volunteers are an essential part of the program, providing
transportation, and activities for the participants, including storytelling, music, and
leading exercises. Plymouth Harbor provides needed respite for caregivers, and
allows its participants to continue to live at home longer before having to move into
assisted living facilities. For information about this program, or to volunteer call
(404) 633-4506 Ext. 225.
